Le Mans 1966
The winning Shelby-American entered Ford GT40 MKll of Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren which broke the 3000 mile/125mph barrier for the first time at Le Mans in 1966. This the first of four Le Mans wins the last being in 1969 thus bringing to a close Ford's GT programme with a unexpected sensational swansong victory.

The automotive pin-up the Cobra married the AC Ace with a hot-rod Ford V8 back in 1962. In big block guise and with Halibrands filling out those arches the 1965 Guinness Book of Records stated that it was the fastest accelerating production car. 0-60 mph in 4 secs. and 0-100 in 9.8 secs.
