Bruce MacKay grew up wanting to be either a helicopter pilot, racing driver, or an artist.
The artist won. Bruce's love of aircraft was colored by his father who was a Flight Sergeant in 106 Squadron RAF Bomber Command.
Inevitably, his love of painting and drawing took him to art school. The tutors couldn't understand why he continued to draw
Lancasters, Spitfires and Mustangs surrounded as he was by flower power. Bruce first indulged the great loves of his life as a
London based automotive art director for more than 30 years. The numerous international photographic sessions he conducted
honed his already considerable awareness of light.
After becoming a full time artist,
worldwide gallery exhibitions followed such as the Haynes
International Motor Museum, the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, the
Donnington Collection, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Guild of
Aviation Artists Exhibition in Pall Mall, London as well as the American
Society of Aviation Artists International Society of Aviation Artists Art
Exhibition at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, Savannah, Georgia, USA.
Commissions have included Indianapolis
Speedway, Nascar and BMI (British Midland International) and twice Nascar
Champion Tony Stewart. His paintings are held in collections worldwide.
Bruce is a member of the Guild of
Motoring Artists.
Friend of the Guild of Aviation
Artists.
Foreign Affiliate of the American
Society of Aviation Artists.
